Job Summary
The primary purpose of the Business Development Manager position is to plan, direct, or coordinate marketing policies and programs, such as determining the demand for products and services offered by a company and its competitors, and identifying potential customers. The role involves developing pricing strategies with the goal of maximizing the company’s profits or market share while ensuring customer satisfaction. It also includes overseeing product development or monitoring trends that indicate the need for new products and services. The Business Development Manager serves as a professional and effective liaison between suppliers, PPC, and the sales force.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Plan the development of products and/or brands, including but not limited to cost analysis, pricing strategies, promotions, advertising, and marketing.
- Develop work plans for the brands under your responsibility, including communication with suppliers regarding achievements, market performance, and market opportunities.
- Identify and analyze market opportunities, direct competition, consumer behavior trends, and unmet needs.
- Analyze profit margins monthly and identify deviations by reviewing costs and pricing.
- Evaluate the impact and risks that could affect profit margins, offering preventive action plans and possible solutions.
- Maintain effective communication with the Sales, Purchasing, and Warehouse Departments regarding, but not limited to, new strategies, risk prevention, and demand planning.
- Establish a regular market visit schedule.
- Collaborate with the Sales Department to prepare sales forecasts based on the historical data of the brands under your responsibility.
- Monitor brand sales performance to estimate changes in projections.
- Design and implement marketing plans for the assigned brands.
- Evaluate and audit the results of marketing and sales programs.
- Ensure healthy inventory levels through regular communication with the Purchasing Department.
- Evaluate investments based on sales report outcomes and provide recommendations to optimize resources.
- Maintain effective communication with Category Management representatives to share market research data, brand changes, and agree on optimal product placement.
- Set clear goals with the sales team regarding promotions and activities to manage and maximize the brand budget.
- Plan, direct, and supervise the activities of the marketing support staff assigned to your brands.
- Ensure timely and accurate billing in coordination with the marketing support team, including sales report reconciliations by brand and ongoing follow-up with the sales team and suppliers.
- Analyze and resolve billing discrepancies, which may involve coordination with other departments such as Finance, Purchasing, and Sales.
- Anticipate risks that may impact merchandise planning and/or sales.
- Provide guidance to Key Accounts and Sales Representatives about new products introduced to the Company portfolio.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of team members under your responsibility.
- Identify and implement a development plan for the personnel under your supervision.
- Conduct meetings, calls, follow-ups, and other communication actions with your team to ensure effective communication.
- Maintain excellent interpersonal relationships with internal and external clients.
- Manage, investigate, and resolve personnel-related issues within your team.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing or Finance.
- Minimum of three (3) years in functions related to brand management, margin and/or P&L analysis, budgeting, and the development of marketing and product launch plans, preferably in the consumer goods industry.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in personnel supervision.
