Our client is a publicly traded Canadian company engaged in the acquisition, development, and operation of renewable energy projects across Latin America and the Caribbean. It is a high-performing and financially sound player in the energy transition. The company is currently seeking an Operations and Maintenance Supervisor.
The primary objective of this role is to manage all daily operations and maintenance activities of a wind power plant to ensure the reliability and availability of equipment. This includes supervision of personnel, maintenance activities, planning, and coordination with contractors for all O&M (Operations & Maintenance) tasks, while ensuring compliance with the company’s occupational health and safety regulations as well as environmental standards.
- Ensure the highest standards of health and safety practices are implemented at the assigned wind farms.
- Engage with landowners, local and state authorities, and the general public as necessary.
- Oversee the implementation and enforcement of occupational risk prevention and safety measures in all operation and maintenance activities at the site.
- Manage spare parts inventory for the assigned wind farm.
- Coordinate and supervise work performed by contractors, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and best labor practices.
- Ensure preventive and/or corrective maintenance is performed on all peripheral equipment, including the transmission line.
- Supervise the activities of O&M contractors, ensuring technical compliance and operational efficiency of the wind farm.
- Ensure performance targets are met, including availability, dispatch, energy output vs. factory specifications and wind conditions, budgets, and more.
- Coordinate with contractors the timely submission of daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports such as incidents, corrective actions, availability, production, power curve checks, and power control.
- Work with contractors to implement plant operation and maintenance procedures that ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering.
- Fluency in both Spanish and English (written and spoken).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
- Strong knowledge of substations and transmission lines.
- Proven experience in production and operations management.
- Familiarity with communication systems and SCADA-based operations.
- Knowledge of electrical protection systems.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the electrical sector (generation, transmission, and/or distribution), including at least 5 years in the wind energy industry and 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Experience operating wind power plants and wind turbines.
- Experience in high-voltage maintenance and switching operations.
- Experience developing and optimizing preventive maintenance programs.
- Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
