Our client is one of the leading companies in Puerto Rico in the distribution of pharmaceutical, health, consumer, and veterinary products. They are seeking a Purchasing Director 

Job Summary

Professional role that involves planning, analyzing, monitoring, and ensuring the availability of products for customers, including branded, generic, and home health care (HHC) items, medical-surgical supplies, OTC (over-the-counter) products, and consumer goods.
Responsible for the ongoing management of purchasing strategies and activities within the company.
Develops and implements strategies to ensure the achievement of results in line with company objectives, aiming to add value, mitigate supply chain risk, and generate cost savings.
Leads the Purchasing Department to provide appropriate support to the company and ensure that business development goals are met.
Works closely with the senior management team to contribute to business objectives, following company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Monitors and ensures the maintenance of an efficient inventory at optimal levels without compromising product availability. Tracks daily sales and notifies Purchasing Managers to identify necessary purchase orders.
  • Develops and implements best practices in vision, strategy, policies, and procedures to support and improve business performance, comply with purchasing agreements, and ensure the quality, reliability, pricing, and continuity of required products.
  • Prepares financial reports, budgets, and presentations related to purchasing analysis and inventory management. Establishes metrics and projections to support the operation of a competitive business.
  • Acts as a liaison and provides support to departments related to Sales and Operations to align customer needs, product availability, and delivery.
  • Analyzes and recommends strategies to maintain healthy inventory turnover, avoiding product stagnation. Provides recommendations to improve operational processes.
  • Evaluates and responds to situations where an order is received incomplete, in excess, or with other discrepancies.
Education
  • Master's degree in Finance, Inventory Management and five to ten years of related experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Programs: Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook at an intermediate or advanced level.
  • Advanced knowledge in Computers (skilled in management / medium-advanced transcription)
  • Knowledge of pharmacy products. 
  • Completely Bilingual (Spanish and English). Reading ability is to write and speak in both languages at an advanced level. 
  • Ability to read, analyze and translate general publications related to the business world, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.  Ability to perform complex analysis, projections, budget management, write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the public.
